Meet the Expat Breakers! The Expat Breakers were established in March 2014. Our founder, President, and first life member, Sacramento Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, first muted the concept of selecting the finest players from throughout South East Asia to form a football team. Donald has since been suspended by the NBA for racial comments, but still remains our spiritual leader. Prior to our first team dinner, which was the evening before our first game, 50% of The Expat Breakers had never met, and one team member arrived in Bali too late to attend the dinner. No one knew what he looked like…we believe he could be The Stig! Each player was recruited because of his strapping physique, height and athleticism. And each player boasts at least one Best & fairest for his respective club, and 3 boast a league Best & fairest. We may be short on for numbers, and short on height, but we are big on drive and talent. (Note the word we...very team spirited!!) The Expat Breakers are: Kyle Hackenberg - Kyle owns the largest calf muscles in South East Asia. If Kyle stands in the one place to long, the shadow from his thighs has stopped grass growing. Rut Ngarmariyalul - At midnight, and after too many beers on his first international football trip, Rut rang his (now ex) girlfriend, informing her he was having an affair......then immediately after, rang his Mother informing her of the affair, and for some unknown reason felt the need to apologise to her! (Who does that?) In the best interest of his current relationship, we have confiscated his phone while in Bali. Nick Cartledge - Nick hasnt pulled on his Ron Barassi, high top, leather stops footy boots for 27 years. When asked if he was concerned about having not trained or played football for 27 years? Nick replied No, its just like riding a bike, you never forget. We suspect Nick muscles may have forgotten and he’ll be sore in places he didnt know he had tomorrow. He is also known as Trueman. He holds the world record for the most selfies in one day, and has a drone filming him constantly. Paul Owen - Paul is known throughout Asia as Big Paul. In the past 2 months Paul’s played for his beloved Malaysia Warriors in Saigon, Jakarta, Manilla and now for the Expat Breakers in Bali. That’s quite an achievement, which is only surpassed by the great man himself...The Big Rooster! Les Kitchen - Les is known as ‘The Running Man. Les earned his nickname by running from responsibility his entire life. Les actually believed Forrest Gump the movie was a documentary about him, and threatened to sue Tom Hanks for making him look stupid!!!!!!!!!! Jarrod Roberts - A stoic figure that casts a shadow over any forward that comes close to him. A schoolteacher by trade, Jazz is known to send the fear of God to any back man not within groping distance of their opponent. Jarrod, being a keen dancer, was a key figure in the Line Dancing world record at the 1994, Tamworth Country Music festival. Brad Mr Youth Hall – Brads younger than tomorrow! At the age of 35, Brad is still asked for ID at bars & clubs, and Bangkok of all places! And on numerous occasions while in the company of this Author, hes been asked if the Author is his Father! (Not funny!) Aaron Agotts - Being mad Elvis Presley fans, Aarons parents couldnt decide whether they named him The King or Aaron, Aaron being Elviss middle name. Fortunately they chose the latter. Aarons goal kicking speaks for itself; his one-day record is the number on his jumper! Greg Shand - Shandy is so old he’s dead! Each day with him is like being in the movie ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’, and at night we put him to bed in formaldehyde. Hell tell anyone he can corner, fax machines will make a comeback, computers are a fad, and he’ll ask, if nothing sticks to Teflon then how does it stick to the pan? Damien Judd – Damo, a sixth cousin removed by marriage to the great man and Brownlow medallist Chris Judd. Damo’s attack on life and football positions him as the engine room of the Breakers. Damo believes sleep is enemy. He says it’s a waste of time because nothing happens! Cliff - Cliff is a mate from Canada, and he joined the Breakers to make up the numbers and get his thieving, dirty, grubby hands on a free Breakers football jumper. Cliff has only played Aussie rules once and has no idea of the rules, which positions him well to become an umpire!! Phil Osmond - The Expat Breakers Team Manager. Phil is a man of few words….in between Bintangs. He models himself on Sir Alex Ferguson and looks to share similar success with the Breakers. Phil is also a Director of our major sponsor Expat Property Planners, so we speak of him highly!
