Meiji Oddessy (day 6) FinallyWe reached Station No 5 at about 6 pm. This is THE place. We were at the foothills of the majestic Mt Fuji. Along the way from kawabuchiko up the winding roads through dense mountain forests (said to be a "keras" place due to so many people commiting suicides here) we came to the last stop, where countless intrepid climbers began their climb up the black volcanic rocks that is the mountain revered by the Japenese in countless millenia and one evergreen icon symbolising Japan. It is magnificient and awe inspiring even as dusk was falling and fog rolling in thick and fast. I have been to Japan many times but never here. Today I finally met up with the old lady. We took quick photos and ten mins later were on our way down again cos this was the last bus down for the day. I will never ever forget today. Thse memories are more valuable than gold.
