Mel Kiper: Oregon QB Marcus Mariota is the Complete Package Oct 2, 1:58 PM Chance Linton - 247Sports ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper was on SportsCenter Thursday to discuss Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, who Kiper has placed at No. 1 on his Big Board for the 2015 NFL Draft. Kiper had nothing but positive things to say. First of all, you look at a guy thats complete, Kiper said. He has great character, great approach, works hard, prepares hard. On the field performance has been upgraded tremendously in terms of just overall accuracy throwing the football. Pinpoint placement, throwing with anticipation, allowing the receiver to run after the catch, maximize those catches with balls that are thrown on target and precise. You think about throwing into tight windows in the NFL. Obviously in college youre not gonna see that all the time, but when he has to he can. His improvisational ability is off the charts, Kiper continued. He can be a magician in that pocket; avoid, escape and create when nothings there. Defenses think they have that play stopped and defended, Mariota creates a positive play. Thats something in the NFL that comes up huge week after week for mobile quarterbacks. Mariota is the complete package. Kiper was asked what separated Mariota from previous Oregon quarterbacks. I think when you look at the ability to prepare, thats huge, Kiper said. You think about quarterbacks in this league that are great -- (Drew) Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers. Mariota is not a Michael Vick. Hes not gonna scramble around. Hes a pure passer. You think about what a guy like Russell Wilson has done already, Andrew Luck, that game preparation. Being the first guy in, last one out of the building is big.
