Members Pay the Same Dues for Drastic Service Cuts USW 1998 staff provide a wide variety of specialized member services including: Job Evaluation analysis Strategic planning Negotiation and arbitration services Counseling and advising members on all stages of the Job Evaluation process Member services coordination on all campuses Job Evaluation Committee outreach, coordination and training Over the past year alone, the now-laid-off staff members led several initiatives designed to increase the capacity of the Local on all campuses, including: Educating new members and servicing members with active Job Evaluation issues Establishing monthly Job Evaluation Drop-ins Re-establishing the Communications Action Team Re-establishing and training the Job Evaluation Committee These services simply cannot be maintained with the elimination of the 6 positions that were dedicated to this work. In particular, members working on the UTSC and UTM campuses will be most effected by the elimination of these services. The equation is simple: Eliminating staff =eliminating services.
