Memoirs from China : post 22 I was a high school student when I fell in love with Shakespeares MACBETH. Ive seen several productions of this play including Welcome Msomis isiZulu uMabatha and an Indian version and few awful versions of student productions. In Suzhou, I attended a Chinese version of the Macbeth presented in the Hui Ju operatic style. It is from this style of Chinese theatre that the famous Peking Opera style originated. This particular production was an absolute spectacle with intriguing masks, splendid costumes and very physical performances. Designed on a very simple set built on a rotating stage and lit with about thirty intelligent lights, this production was an absolute spectacle.
