Memorial of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, Virgin and Doctor of the Church Zechariah 8:20-23 / Psalm 87:1b-3, 4-5, 6-7 / Luke 9:51-56 Therese Martin, the "Little Flower," was born in Alencon, France. She was a contemplative who, in her biography, "The Story of a Soul," urged all to follow "the little was." She died of tuberculosis (September 30, 1897) in Carmel of Lisieux at age 24. She was proclaimed doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul II (October 19, 2001). Patroness of missions & of France.
