Men: Do These to Thyself Before Marriage Marriage is an institution created by God for the sole purpose of companionship. Having deemed it fit that man should not be alone, He made sure that some things were in place before He saw the need for man to have a suitable help meet. After he was made, He brought Eve to be his companion. However, this union created the institution called marriage. It is quite unfortunate today that some men are the cause of some failed marriages (I can prove that). A man must be made and must have known the reason(s) why he lives before he thinks of getting married. Going into marriage ‘half done’ or incomplete will make a ruin of such marriage even if you marry the right woman. It takes a ‘made’ man and a formed woman to have a successful marriage. What are these things that were in place before you should consider the need for marriage? Be A Man The creation of man goes beyond the physical aspect. A lot of men are so bothered about their physical appearance that they do all it takes to build their biceps, six packs and ‘test’ their manhood by sampling every Tom, Dick and Harry of the female folks. There’s more to being manly than all of that. While you’re single, endeavor to do the following: Be Emotionally Stable Rather than waste your life frivolously, take time to develop your emotional being. How are you able to manage emotional issues such as depression, hurt or frustration? It is not about you alone, you should be able to absorb your wife emotional challenges to some extent or vice versa. Emotional stability is achieved through the experience you must have had over the years while dealing with emotional issues. Challenges are to make you not break you. Be The Spiritual Head Since marriage was created by God, there are certain spiritual values that are needed to sustain it. However, for you to be man enough, you must be connected to a source so that you’ll be able to handle spiritual issues in marriage. Do you have an intimate relationship with God? Lots of women had taken over men’s spiritual role at the home front. Some men are so lazy to pray or study their Bibles, yet they can spend hours watching football matches or playing games that wouldn’t add value to their life. How can you lead without being connected to a Source? Don’t blame women who became victims of false prophets. If you as a man can play your spiritual role, you’ll not only safeguard your marriage but you’d also protect your wife and life. Be Financially Independent A man is meant to be the financial provider in the family except in some cases, which is not meant to be, where the woman becomes the bread winner. What can you do to make ends meet? Rather than waste your energies, resources or time in different club houses, brothels or partying; conserve them and become productive. If you cannot get a degree, get a productive business to keep you financially buoyant. It’s a shame on a man’s head ship to swindle a woman’s financial fortune or to become too dependent on her. Women aren’t meant to be the provider but a help meet. Face your studies or invest in a legal business. Get A Reason to Live When God created Adam, He didn’t just leave him to pursue pleasure; He gave him a reason (purpose) to live. As singles, expedite action on the discovery of your purpose in life. Don’t pursue frivolities in life or pleasure, discover your purpose. A man who has no cause to live for will chase shadows. Purpose is different from passion. Your passion is your personal ambition while your purpose can be known by inquiring from the Creator. The core reason to which a man is created is to fulfill a particular purpose. Other things such as career, vocation or skill are just a plus to his life. Have you discovered your purpose? The purpose a machine serves can be clearly understood from the manufacturer. It’s only God that can reveal a man’s purpose to Him. Get Him to reveal it to you by asking. Once you discover it, pursue it and gain mastery. Purpose must come first before the need for a partner. Have you gotten a reason to live? Be on the path of fulfilling it. Once you know it and some things are already in place, you can then consider the need for marriage.
