“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus,[d] delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. ~ Acts 2:22-23 Gods sovereignty. Mans responsibility. These two concepts cause many debates among Gods people. If God is completely in control over all things then how can man be held responsible for his choices? Or, If God is sovereign, doesnt this make men merely pre-programmed robots? Yet, as a human being I am given the ability to make choices and decisions that affect outcomes - at least it seems so from my limited, finite perspective. Here in these two verse you see the confluence of these ideas. The foreordination of God the Father that Jesus would be delivered up to die for the sins of mankind is clearly articulated. And, equally seen is the call to the men of Israel to see their culpability for choices they made in delivering Jesus to His death. I accept these things by faith. To attempt to fully rationalize these things is to attempt to be as wise as God Himself. I accepted Jesus Christ by grace through faith. I persevere in this faith according to the grace and faith He He continues to give to me. I do not have to fully understand some things that are only for God to fully understand.
