Mens Fire leader facing mischief charges Three men are facing mischief charges in relation to the closure of Hwy. 6 during a weekend-long protest in October to draw attention to missing and murdered indigenous women. Bill Monture, 58, leader of the Six Nations Mens Fire, is among those charged with mischief. Haldimand County OPP said in a news release the charges stem from an Oct. 4 demonstration on Hwy. 6 near Fourth Line Road that affected public safety on the highway. Due to the safety concerns, detour routes were set up at the Third line to the south and the Fifth line to the north, police said. The closure continued into the evening of Sunday, October 5, 2014 before the highway was reopened to the public. Police said as a result of the interference on the highway, the OPP commenced a criminal investigation which resulted in three persons being charged. Also charged are 52-year-old Glenn Green, of Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, Cody Fero, 35, of Hamilton. All three men will appear in Cayuga provincial court at a later date to answer to the charges.
