Menuhin in top form, playing and conducting the French Radio Orchestra. The date given is 1969. I doubt whether it is accurate. It could have been earlier. The rehearsal is of particular interest. He spoke perfect French (as he also did with German), a product of home schooling. When Menuhin and Oistrakh worked together, their common language was German. So why shouldnt we learn German? Of late, at my university, our students could sing Phleng Luk Thung and perform Likay in German! It is a very rich and flexible language and can do more things than English. I am using Menuhin as an excuse to woo customers for my subject.
