Merced police reported an injury accident involving a pedestrian in an alley near V and West 23rd streets on Wednesday. Police were investigating whether the woman driving the car was drunk when she struck a man walking in an alley in the 1400 block of West 23rd Street around 2 p.m., according to Sgt. Tony Aponte. Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, he said.
