Mercury Retrograde - you are driving me nuts. Those not familiar with MR should know that MR can cause delays, miscommunication, computer issues and errors, etc. So heres how MR has played with my day. * Started off getting my teeth cleaned - so far, so good. * Returned home to find Beaverdam Road blocked -- with either a telephone pole or power pole snapped in half. I made it home only to retreat to Atlanta Bread when I confirmed my power was out. * Worked at ABC all day -- had phone on beside me and checking email constantly (this important due to whats next -- schools failure to communicate) * Hannah forgot Anime Club was today called to confirm I could pick her up. In the distraction, I completely forgot she actually had an orthodontist appointment today. * Got home at 3:50 p.m. Bus arrives routinely by 4:15, but the road was still blocked. I asked the crew what the school bus would do. I was assured the bus could come to my road, but they said I should double check with the school. I witnessed a city bus come to my road and turn around, and a yellow school bus #119 do the same thing. * 3:55 - I called AHS and asked what the plan was for this bus. The guy who answered really didnt know. Asked me to hold,. * 4:13 p.m. - Transportation Director Sue Tripp picked up the call. She said the bus would drop off at the Beaverdam Fire Department, which is TOO FAR TO WALK HOME. I was livid. Until I called before 4 p.m., the SCHOOL DID NOT CONTACT ME IN ANY WAY. This road blockage began around 9 a.m. Emergency services notified the school system. THEY HAD HOURS TO NOTIFY PARENTS. They never called me. Never texted. Never emailed. You know, if it was so hard to pinpoint parents, they could have put out a blanket robo call saying riders of this bus would be delivered to Beaverdam Fire Department if the bus couldnt come to their regular stop. Really poor failure in communication. They can send out robo calls ad nauseum about piddly stuff, but they cant tell me that they plan to drop my kids off miles from their regular stop. After picking Ben up, I started making calls to everyone.. Superinitendent, Principal, Communications Director, Asst. Principals, main number, etc. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ONE HUMAN BEING ON THE PHONE AND IT WAS BEFORE 5 P.M. 5:00 - Got Ben to work; got call from orthodontist on way to pick up Hannah that I missed appointment. 6 p.m. - still no power so back to ABC with Hannah so I can work, she can do homework and we can eat a hot meal. 6:15 - my external keyboard wont turn on. Completely dead yet I replaced the batteries not long ago. 6:30 - After eating, I decide to run to CVS to get batteries and return to ABC. I cant find my phone ANYWHERE. i search the table, my laptop bag, my pockets, my purse. I get hannah to search. I finally ask the crew (they are exceptionally nice here) to check for my phone. Im convinced I left it at the counter while paying. One employee calls my phone. It rings. From my table. its under my keyboard where I swear i looked multiple times. 7 p.m. - back with batteries, I cannot get the wireless keyboard to pair... had to use hannahs computer to troubleshoot. Keyboard begins work which allows me to type this message. So its been a day of miscommunication, loss of power, computer keyboard breakdown, mixup on cell phone whereabouts, etc.. -- all the things Mercury Retrograde is famous for. And oh Joy, the lunar blood moon eclipse is less than 12 hours away. Cant wait. :-p
