Mesapotamia Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlus interest in Mylapore - TopicsExpress

Mesapotamia Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlus interest in Mylapore temple came to be known to me this morning when I was around the ancient templt at about 11 a.m. All the streets closeby had been barricaded and the cops posted in good number hinted to me about the VVIPs impending visit. (Mesopotamia encompasses the land between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, both of which have their headwaters in the mountains of Armenia in modern-day Turkey. Both rivers are fed by numerous tributaries, and the entire river system drains a vast mountainous region. Overland routes in Mesopotamia usually follow the Euphrates because the banks of the Tigris are frequently steep and difficult.) The streets had been spruced up and the temple had the usual throng of devotees not many knowing who was coming and whether anything special about about to happen. Only my probing questions got me some info about the visitor. I waited for a while to gain a glimpse of the person keen on the deities here in Chennai temple. But I was not lucky and had other business to finish before leaving for office. Surely he would have been taken around the temple with due honours and briefing that is given to VVIPs, though he would not have been able to get a close darshan that I always get and cherish of the main deities. On my way back there was another spectable unfolding before me near Mylai station. A slum fire was being battled by firemen and cops had gathered to keep people at bay on the dirty driver over which the MRTS train is operated. May be someone thought that starting the fire was the only way to clear tenements ahead of cleaning up the river if that is seriously in the mind of the civic authorities. Good luck to Chennaites very soon to see the surroundings turned better and presentable to foreign visitors like the man from mesopotamia today.
