Message I received: hi, im just wondering. I met a vegan the other day and she was quite abusive towards me because i eat meat. I love animals and i would never hurt them, but does it make me a horrible person that i eat animal products? i believe that it is fine for everyone to have their own morals and views and i have no problem with that. But i feel like you should never be abused for having different views from somebody else, despite them maybe not agreeing. My response: Thanks for your message! I am sorry if someone was abusive towards you. I strive to be kind to everyone, so dont worry about me getting abusive. You say you would never hurt animals, but if youre eating animals, youre paying other people to kill animals for you, and thats just as bad, if not worse, than if you killed the animals yourself. I ate animals for 27 years, but I dont hate myself for it. I was a victim of the system of carnism. The system of carnism conditioned me to eat certain animals. Then when I was 27, I read a book called, Old MacDonalds Factory Farm. I read about the terrible cruelty behind meat, eggs and dairy. I learned that we have no right to use animals for anything. I encourage you to try some vegan dishes, and learn about how delicious vegan food can be. Plant foods have all the flavour. Thanks again for your question, my friend.
