Message for Dean Stoker Hi Dean - thought Id start a new thread rather lose my comments in one of yours. Unfortunately there are very few crew lists for the war period and all I have is an incomplete and unofficial HMS Ajax one covering the Battle of the River Plate time (13 December 1939) but that doesnt show a James Edward Harvey. Looking of the War Graves Commission site at cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2460579/HARVEY,%20JAMES%20EDWARD this shows that your Granddad died on 29th January 1941 whilst aboard HMS Somali and is indeed buried in the Lyness RN Cemetery in the Orkneys. Dont know anything about HMS Somali but a quick Wikipedia check has her being torpedoed 20 September 1942 with nothing about an incident in January 1941.
