Message from Rushmoor Mallards - Local Swimming Charity Rushmoor Mallards is a long established disability sports club based in Farnborough. They offer a wide range of sports such as swimming, football, basketball, badminton, cricket, bowls, darts, table tennis, trampolining and boccia (like boules). One of their urgent needs is in-water helpers - willing to go on a rota - on Sundays at Farnborough Leisure Centre 12:15 till 1:30pm for their casual swim session to assist some of the disabled folks in the water. There are lifeguards on duty all the time – some of the disabled swimmers just need a bit of help in the water. The rota system would work by a volunteer committing to a certain Sunday - for instance every 1st Sunday in the month - and if that volunteer cannot make a particular date, they arrange cover with another volunteer on the rota that comes on a different Sunday. If you a two-parent family and have children you are more than welcome to come and swim as a family during that time with one parent looking out for the kids and the other helping the disabled swimmers. Also if anyone is interested in the other sports we offer on a Friday night 8pm to 10pm and would like to join the rota for that, we would be glad to hear from you. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet people, gain experience and make a huge impact on our community!
