Message from one of our cadets. Please support our Junior Sea Cadet and his run this weekend. Hi to everyone. This weekend is the Bupa Great North Run; my dad is unable to run this year as hes still waiting for his knee operation! My brother Henry & I have decided to run the junior & mini runs in memory of our cousin Max. A few weeks before the summer holidays Max fell ill & was taken to hospital. When the holidays started we visited for a couple of days but decided to stay so Mum could help my Auntie & Nan look after him. He began to slowly deteriorate and we were eventually told that there was nothing else they could do for him and Max was moved to Charlton Farm Hospice. For all the wrong reasons this was a wonderful place and my whole family were able to stay there to spend our last precious days with Max. Max received fantastic end of life care & they really got ontop of his pain relief and after his death we were all well supported, especially us children. My 2 cousins, my brother, sister & myself received wonderful help and support by the sibling bereavement team. My cousins & myself; who were having a very difficult time, continued to stay at the hospice for extra support & counselling. When we returned home I said that I wanted to do the run & raise sponsorship for the hospice to say thank you for looking after Max and for all the help I received. I know that times are hard & understand if you’re not able to but please give if you can. I will try to add the link below but if I cant you can get onto my sponsor form by going to chsw.org.uk and if you hover over donate, sponsor a friend pops up, click on that and enter George Sturman. Click on my name & the form should appear. I hope you all had a lovely holiday Many thanks George chsw.org.uk/
