Message of Atty. Leni Gerona-Robredo Representative, Third District of Camarines Sur For the 2014 Lenten Season Our symbol of Jesus Christ is one of a savior crucified on a cross. Inside our homes, schools, establishments, and churches, we see this symbol, hanging high on our walls, as a sign of our faith. This Lenten Season, we remember the sacrifice Jesus has done for us. We remember his suffering, the agony He had gone for our redemption. We remember, most of all, that it was His unconditional and selfless and love that brought Him to His fate. In Pope Francis’ Lenten Message, he shared God’s logic of becoming man and sharing our experiences and that “He became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.” The Pope shared, that it is because of love that Jesus made miracles for the salvation of mankind. He said Love is what makes us similar, “it breaks down walls and eliminates distances.” It is because of love that we have known Christ and experienced his compassion and mercy. What He asks of us in return is to share the grace He has given through His sacrifice and it is something we as people can do for our family, neighbor, and the larger society. As we continue on our journey toward progress, let us bear in mind that we should persevere in every good that we do. Jesus Christ has revealed that there will always be challenges to our actions, but we should keep carrying on despite the hardships. After all, the Lenten Season, as Jesus’ life has shown, is not all about suffering; it is about loving no matter where it takes us.
