Met with Congressman Kurt Schrader yesterday. He and his staffers have been most excellent in ensuring they understand my/others concerns. The one question I had time to ask was if policy holders could participate in some sort of discount program, meaning, for home owners who have sump pumps, or no flood claims on their house, couldnt there be some sort of discounts available? The answer was not what I wanted to hear- theyve looked at those options, but they are not part of the solution-- at the time being. Rep. Schrader and Senator Jeff Merkley are working together on Merkleys newly designed legislation released on Oct 29th. Good news on that front, looks like the Affordability Act will actually be performed, delaying big price hikes all at once. Rep. Schrader also encouraged this Facebook Page continue to reach out to the Gulf and East Coasts... So Stop FEMA Now - Gulf Coast and NOLA, Stop FEMA now and others, please keep the pressure on, they are listening and steps are being taken...
