Metal music is a system of its own within its genre. There are many schools of thought (subgenres) in Metal itself. The differences are evident in terms of melodic pattern, chord progression, tempo/beat, timbre, lyrical content, and vocal style. METAL scene (community/culture) is separate from its music though the two aspects can/do affect each other at times. For instance, Black Metal does not have to be necessarily Satanic or Atheistic (although most of them carry those appearances). Its a matter of knowing whats right or wrong, whats good or bad, whats true or false. Nevertheless, when it comes to Metal (music), the majority of people stigmatize it, using Black Metal as example, or using Metal fans and musicians attitudes as scapegoat. Using a somewhat parallel (but unrelated) analogy, how has Islam been viewed by the rest of the world? What Metal is, in terms of music can analogically be compared to what Islam is, in terms of ideology; Stigmatized and misunderstood. Disclaimer: This is not a fatwa, it has no dalil.
