Meteorologist Paul Douglas explains that this storm is part of a pattern of increasing extreme rain. Atmospheric CO2 is driving up temperatures and thus tropical moisture which then moves north and causes extreme precipitation. In Colorado, drought and fire - also fueled by climate change - have degraded the plants and soil that would normally soak up the rain and made flooding worse. Climate disasters collide.
