Metro contain news of a serious blow for both Manchester United and Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Samuel Eto’o is staying with his current club Anzhi Makhachkala this summer. The Cameroonian forward knows Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho well and has been linked with a move to join back up with his former manager this summer. Chelsea have been looking for a new striker all summer long after Fernando Torres and Demba Ba failed to inspire Mourinho. Add to this the fact that Red Devils boss David Moyes is interested in the forward and Eto’o has seen a summer full of potential moves hit the headlines. However, in a huge blow for the Premier League duo, Anzhi head coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev noted: "Eto’o will stay. "He has reached an agreement with the owner and will continue his career with Anzhi." Of course this is a serious blow for both Manchester United and Chelsea, both of whom have been strongly linked with the forward in recent days, and this now means that they will have to search elsewhere for targets and now it becomes even more vital for both sides to win the battle over the future of Wayne Rooney.
