Mgbowo marriage is too expensive. Paying the dowry is not the problem but ibuoke(rat-cut), where you must provide almost 100 litres of palm wine. Beside, you must cook for inyomdi and umunna before they lead you to the inlaw place, after you might have gone there for mee ogbugbanju. If you want to marry an Mgbowo lady, you better make N500,00 available. That is why most of men and ladies are getting old. Because most of our men cant afford it. But those that are wise goes for inter-ethnic marriage. I really thank God that Mgbowo tradition does not against inter-ethnic marriage. Another thing I hate most in Mgbowo marrital psychology which since I have been traveling around Nigeria is that, if a man impregnate a lady and bear him child/children, and another man come to mary the lady: they will give the man the child/children because the man has buooke(cut-rat). They dont want to know that the child/children are another persons blood. Significantly, we are in the new era, and all those old ideologies should be erased.
