Michael Baisden Commentary: Checking In...Touching Base...Taking Inventory Whatever you want to call it, do it! And dont wait until theres a big blow up to have this conversation...by then its usually too late. Set aside some time this week and tell your partner, Hey, baby, lets Check In to see how were doing. All it takes is asking five basic questions to determine if your relationships is strong, needs fine tuning, or is in deep trouble! 1) Are you happy? If not is there anything Im doing thats taking away from your happiness and peace? 2) Am I doing anything that makes you feel unloved, undesired, disrespected, unsupported, or unappreciated? 3) Do you think were spending enough quality time together? 4) Does my relationship with my friends, family, or exs make you uncomfortable? And Heres The Toughest One Of All..... 5) Do you still want to be in this relationship? Some people have been together for years and have never once had this conversation, and its not because they have the perfect relationship, most often its because they have begun to take each other for granted or they dont want the answer to the question in the first place. Why? Because they have no interest in fixing whats broken, thats too much like work! Dont be afraid to know the truth about what your partner is feeling! Avoiding Checking In may give you temporary peace but its can create a headache that can last a lifetime.
