Michelle Johns 3 hrs Just saw GDA Band at The Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. The first time I saw them was at The Saint Hotel in NOLA last February. I was worried the venue would not be conducive to the energy and presence this band brings. It is, after all, a museum. The average age of this audience was at least sixty. My husband commented if they started a second line, someone was likely to break a hip. The MIM rep made some announcements, and could not remember the name of the band he was introducing. I guarantee, he will never forget it. After getting the crowd riled up, Glen pointed the rep out and invited us all to the mans house for the after party. The man was so caught up in the moment he actually agreed! In this small, subdued, and acoustically superior setting the band delivered an unspoken invitation to BE The Big Easy. We stood, we clapped, we sang and danced with white napkins Glen had the ushers hand out after the warm up songs. For ninety minutes, Phoenicians came alive with Cajun vigor and Creole soul. I cant wait to do it again...
