It has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The distinction is based on its academic record. The program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools, where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan made the announcement Tuesday which included 286 other schools.
