Microchip your pets and check it Microchipping is a simple process where a tiny chip is implanted under your pet’s skin which contains information that increases the chances of you being reunited with your beloved pet if it gets lost or stolen. The chip is a permanent form of identification that can be scanned by your vet, animal shelters and dog wardens if a dog is picked up. It is more reliable than a collar for reuniting your with your pet. Collars and ID tags can be removed or fall off, but the microchip will always be there so it’s good to have both. Microchipping will usually cost between €20-€30, but many charities and vets run free microchipping schemes at different times of year. Once you microchip your pet it is important to check the chip is working correctly and to ensure that the registration and contact details are up-to-date. If you can, support the ISPCA this World Animal Week (4th - 10th October) by making a once-off donation of €4 to the ISPCA or a monthly gift of €4 online on ispca.ie to help neuter/spay the animal in our care. A small regular donation makes a huge difference. Or you can celebrate World Animal Week by posting a photo of you and your beloved pet on social media, tagging friends to do the same, and donate €4 by texting ISPCA to 50300. 100% of text cost goes to the ISPCA across most network providers. Some providers apply VAT which means a minimum of €3.26 goes to the ISPCA. Service provider LIKECHARITY 01 4433890 Thank you so much for your support.
