Micrscope Newspaper September 26, Edition Headline story Ellen’s Son, James Sirleaf Turns Millionaire Under Mother’s Regime -Laughs At The Poor; Brags About Earning Above $57M Yearly In Liberia With the high level of excruciating poverty, harsh economic conditions, other pains been experienced by Liberians on a daily basis, the son of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, James Sirleaf is reportedly earning about $57M from his company in Liberia. He has been criticized by critics for bragging about fortune he has acquired not in a foreign country but in a country that is headed by his mom, Liberia. Mr. James Sirleaf in a FaceBook chats with a staunch critics of his mother’s government, Mr. George K. Fahnbulleh, the President’s son said his company that is operating in Liberia is earning an annual income between $57M to $60M under the regime of his mother. Sirleaf boastfully told Mr. Fahnbulleh that he has worked in private business for over 30 years; his little daughter is doing her Masters in Law at Duke University and adding that “I live and work in Liberia and frankly, I would rather take my chances with her my friends.” During their conversations, George K. Fahnbulleh asked Mr. James Sirleaf about what his mom has done in 8 years but he did not provide any information as it relates to successes of his mother’s government. Mr. Fahnbulleh further said that while “Liberian children are not even in school, you (Mr. Sirleaf) have the audacity to be boasting that your daughter goes to Duke? The kids who failed the UL entrance exam, last year, were in the 4th grade when your mother became President.” Though his mom admitted giving ten thousand United States Dollars to war crime convict and Ex-Liberian President, Charles Taylor during the Liberian crisis, the self proclaimed wealthy son of President Sirleaf did not comment but only boasted of wealth acquired by him. Mr. Sirleaf kept mentioning his wealthy company in Liberia but Mr. Fahnbulleh continuously told him to focus the discussion on his mother’s government and what successes she has scored. Fahnbulleh further told Mr. Sirleaf to discuss what he called “Ellen Sirleafs failed presidency that has left Liberia naked and unmasked before the world. You are ill equipped to defend your mother, and I would advise you to exit this thread.” See full text of the conversation conversation between James E. Sirleaf and George K Fahnbulleh. James Sirleaf George dont want to even try to challenge me James Sirleaf I leave him now with my little daughter who is doing her masters of law at Duke. Who is paying? Where do you think I got the money? Ive worked in private business for over 30 years. James Sirleaf I live and work in Liberia and frankly I would rather take my chances with her my friends. James Sirleaf Reaction: Subject: Disagreement with comments posted by Footprints Newspaper To: comments@thenationSince 2006, Liberia has now recently emerged to join and become a full fledged part of the credible nations of the world (under Ellen Johnson-Sirleafs leadership). During the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, this country had serious problems with monstrous levels of corruption, mismanagement in government and public corporation circles and bad governance. There were no attempts made by any previous government to rein it in. Over the past 3 years there has been a virtual turnaround in public finance and nation development. Things would not be rosy perfect...just yet. (We’ve had a national crisis like Ebola for example). Mainly because of the many years of destruction of life, of culture, infrastructure and so forth. It will take some time to focus on the most vital elements that will make the difference for benefitting the majority of the people. In order to properly develop the education, health and agricultural sectors, this government has had to start from scratch. It is going to take some time and it will cost much more money. I am frankly relieved and as most Liberians would rather take my chances with her. I was incarcerated and made desolate by the evil undertaken by the Liberian security officers and military in 1985, led by the late Jenkins Scott and others. I was falsely imprisoned and humiliated and at one point almost lost my life as a consequence of “zero hour.” I was not charged with any crime and indeed was with my Mother on the 12 of November 1985 at our place of family residence. At the time I was Head of Credit at Citibank, N.A. Monrovia, Liberia on Ashmun Street and not playing any major role in Liberian politics. I spent over two months in prison without charge and was taken to military tribunal (after civil elections) without any substance. Ask yourself why? I want to say here that I want those people who continue to place my President and my mother’s name in a line-up with the iniquitous elements such as the former warlords in Liberia, to immediately desist. I am the proof as I was there with her November 12, 1985. I can assure you not one cent of mine was spent supporting Charles Taylor or any other warlord. No conscious effort was made by any family member to support war or killings or I would have most certainly been a part of it. Let this be made very clear. She has won the Noble Prize and I can say that she deserves it more than any other Liberian for certain. I stand firm in my assertion. George K. Fahnbulleh James who cares where your daughter goes to school? My daughter goes to Wellesley. In 8 years we have nothing. What has your mother done? George K. Fahnbulleh Liberian children are not even in school and you have the audacity to be boasting that your daughter goes to Duke? The kids who failed the UL entrance exam, last year, were in the 4th grade when your mother became President. So much for progress George K. Fahnbulleh Your mother has ALREADY told us that she gave 10,000 to Taylor. James Sirleaf I am really sorry for you. By the way do you work for a living? James Sirleaf Maybe I give $20,000 of Citibank money to Taylor back in 1989 when I worked for Citibank in Monrovia George K. Fahnbulleh JES this is not about YOU. It is about your mother and her failure as president. James Sirleaf You dont even know whats happening my friend. I am a businessman. Our company does a $57m turnover because we work hard and dont wait for handouts or ask for bribes. George K. Fahnbulleh JES the last time I checked you are not president. You want to make it about you. You are not president. James Sirleaf I am taking you on my friend. You think Im blowing things up here? That is the companys annual turnover in Liberia between $57m to $60m right now. I am the GM. George K. Fahnbulleh Congratulations on the performance of your company. This is not about your company. It is about the President of Liberia. Do not try to conflate you and her. George K. Fahnbulleh This is not about your company. Lets talk about ELLEN Sirleafs failed presidency that has left Liberia naked and unmasked before the world. George K. Fahnbulleh Your defense of your mother is lets talk about me and my company? George K. Fahnbulleh You are ill equipped to defend your mother, and I would advise you to exit this thread. Most notable-Monrovia Oil and Trading Co! But where is the $60 million a year comment. George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf please reserve you companys performance report for the annual Shareholders Meeting. It has absolutely nothing to do with the governance of Liberia of which I am a shareholder. I would like to know the following 1) Why is the educational sector a failure after 8 years? 2) Why is the health sector a total failure after 8 years? 3) Why is the economy a failure? 4) Why have the international partners become so distrustful that they are no longer willing to dispense cash to the government?. You want to defend your mother. George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf on April 5th, the President while defending her endless travels told the world Ebola was being well managed and well contained. I will post the recording. Last week she wrote Barack Obama claiming that Ebola which she claimed was well contained will overwhelm us. How incompetent is she? George K. Fahnbulleh When the WHO estimated 20,000 infections, she rejected their arithmetic projections. Not because she had any better analysis, but because she did not want to admit her failure. Now the country is literally on the brink of extinction, and you have the audacity to stand here and tell us how much money you are making in Liberia. George K. Fahnbulleh But you just gave me the title for my next piece. In Liberia: Presidents Son Brags of making 60 million dollars, in a country that cannot feed an Ebola Patient. James Sirleaf Did you know that the Ebola strain almost zeroed out in the months between February and May? You know what I want to say to you. Do you know that Liberia depends on crop like pepper and bitter-balls from across the border in Guinea? Do you know what it is to convince the Legislature to close a border like for instance in Ganta because of Ebola and watch the consequence on a growing economy? My man you are just full of rhetoric James Sirleaf It is companys like mine that pay the taxes that keep the Government functional. Where are u coming from dude? Better yet, where are u going? you dont even know do you? James Sirleaf I also dont agree with the estimates. I find them on the high side unless no progress is made in spite of the many interventions. George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf leadership requires bold choices. The President was not willing to make the bold choice because of bitter-balls and pepper. Why did she not accept the WHO numbers? Was that because of Bitter ball and pepper also? How is that working out for the economy? Oh dont answer that, you made 60 million James Sirleaf What is your economic contribution to Liberia George? Better yet how much personal money have you provided by yourself or through any organizations to support the Ebola fight.? Huh? George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf I am going to keep the focus on the President, and her failure and incompetence. She did not fail because of my contribution or lack thereof. George K. Fahnbulleh Oh You dont accept the estimates? Based on what? What numbers do YOU have that support your rejection? Have you done any predictive analytics? George K. Fahnbulleh I have been following the following stochastic model of predictions on Ebola for the past 4 months. I have shared them with Liberians everywhere. George K. Fahnbulleh You will see that the model is correct for Liberia. What kind of person will REFUSE to accept a model when they have no model of their own? James Sirleaf I am at liberty to voice my opinions. Let history judge us both. The international NGOs must work shoulder to shoulder with the local health ministries in all of the concerned countries for this to work. Mind you, Liberia is not the very worst case if you look closely at the numbers which I will supply shortly. I dont rely on health reports based on simulations where all conditions are constant and never changing. George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf here is also a copy for the Uganda After Action Report on their 2012 Ebola Outbreak. Had your mother and/or the Ministry of Health Even bothered to read it, we would be better of than we are today. James Sirleaf I am really not interested because the mutations are different and the strain in West Africa have mutated. George K. Fahnbulleh I dont rely on health reports based on simulations where all conditions are constant and are never changing Huh? Sadly you are mistaken. The models take into account unknowns. Please brush up on Predictive Analytics, and help advice your mother. James Sirleaf See the following for Liberia progress to type input into your browser. I was there at the end of Tubman time, through Tolbert and Doe. Forget Taylor. There has not been this much progress in Liberia over such a short time frame with what this President has accomplished. George K. Fahnbulleh Please James Sirleaf, how many jobs has this produced? You want to transform the Liberian economy and are trying to do it through concessions? How about converting the economy from a cash to a credit economy? How much economic activity will that spur? James Sirleaf My man you dont get me. Let history be the judge. We appreciate the help but the fact is that most if not all of the major funding does not go into the Government coffers except perhaps those that go through the WB and IMF. These monies and NGO or bilateral aid is monitored by an independent unit which acts as the program coordinators and project managers of donor funds. It is on the 4th floor of the Finance Ministry and run by a foreigner...not a Liberian. James Sirleaf Golden Veroleum has 4,000 employees on their payroll in Sinoe. They provide even rice for them and are building housing for them. Have you seen what housing was in Sinoe before their investment in Liberia? Ask man! James Sirleaf If you try to go to credit than you take the route of the microfinance experience. Major losses! George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf microfinance is not CREDIT. I am talking about a robust credit economy which requires robust infrastructure to support it. Superstition is, always has been, and forever will be the foe of progress, the enemy of education, and the assassin of freedom ~ Robert G Ingersoll ________________________________________ Chay, but IO, how you will ask the man question and you cant give him chance to answer? Please ask him one question for me. Where else is his highly successful company operating besides Liberia? If his answer is nowhere else, then tell him hes a fool to be admitting how much money he is making in a country governed by his mother while people are dying from the lack of basic healthcare. No matter how honestly he is making that money, he may eventually get his balls squeezed to explain how he got to run a lucrative business in Liberia under his mothers presidency. If you believe you are surrounded by a bunch of idiots, why is it so difficult for you to escape? Yes I plagiarized it. Go sue me. Instant Offense Isaac Vah Tukpah Seriously James? So your company profits alone makes up 6% of the nations $1 billion GDP? Whats the benefit of that in a country managed by your mom where 75% of the people are jobless? About the same percentage live on less than $1.25 a day and about 50% live on $0.50 a day? How disconnected are you to boast/brag about net sales volume in such a downtrodden economy? Please explain your operations and how you are making such huge profits. Maybe I (you) give $20,000 of Citibank money to Taylor back in 1989 when I (you) worked for Citibank in Monrovia? Do you think thats a joke? Your mother is on record for understating how much she donated to the horrible deaths of nearly 250,000 Liberians, Glad to know you are diversifying the Sirleafs portion. February to May? Do you even know when Ebola came to Liberia? Are you not embarrassed to be saying that after nearly 9 years of your mothers leadership Liberia depends on crop like pepper and bitterballs from across the border in Guinea and then say Liberia is a growing economy? I am inclined to say you are just full of rhetoric but I think you are totally oblivious of economic indicators and how a nation is run. Oops sorry, I just saw that you have opinions. Lets keep it that way but dont present them as if they are facts. The facts and predictions submitted to you are probably unreadable. Its sad that you do not comprehend what goes into making those predictions and how evidence based they are but like your mother, you can simply dismiss them and say you do not believe them. I guess you do the same with sales and profit projections for your company right? WOW! Are you putting up these illegal land grab contracts as evidence of accomplishments by your mom? hahahahahahaha Please tell us how these contracts represent accomplishments and how they benefit the Liberian people. I thought only your taxes did. Let history be the judge? History has already proven the corruption, inefficiency, ineptness, and mismanagement of your mothers leadership. Now employing 4,000 Liberians for pittances and giving them a bag of rice is development? Have you read the Moore Stephens Process Audit Report? InstantOffense Isaac Vah Tukpah hahahaha George, why waste time? If James Sirleaf who is suppose to be the financial maven doesnt even understand what a credit economy is, then I fully understand why this government has performed so miserably. George K. Fahnbulleh He says a credit economy is microfinance. This is really sad for our country! George K. Fahnbulleh James Sirleaf, please convey the following to your mother: We will continue to make the case for her resignation. She has been exposed to the world, and our country is suffering because of it. The sooner she leaves the better. Ellen Must Go!!! Its a running joke that Ellen didnt close the border because of biter-balls. Her son is here admitting it! Lmao! Monjue, aint doing his job well so she had to get her real son involved! Lmao! Instant Offense This guy reminds me of the Dos Santos kids from Angola. They are sure they dont pay any bribes to do business. Forgetting that the people who are paying bribes are paying them to get ACCESS you were born with. He expects us to PRAISE the fact that he doesnt pay bribes. Does he believed in his right mind that he has been able to build a company in the past 5 years that makes 60 million because he is a good businessman? They could have shut him up by asking him the nature of his business and who are his clients.
