Might as well share this here: I’ve read a fair amount about the organizational heartbreak the Burning Man org has gone through since 1996. My Shero, Harley Dubois, fought tooth and nail with Larry and Marian over some of their choices throughout the years. Something profound I saw at the leadership conference was that these three people truly love and respect each other, underneath the departmental drama. Time and time again, they have shifted defending themselves from each other and turned to face the outside world, defending Burning Man together against the forces of Default. As SOAK LLC transitions to a non-profit and we continue to synthesize the best ways of organizing and communicating with each other, I hope we can all learn to do that. It took Harley, Larry and Marian 25+ years to perfect it. We’ll get there!
