Mighty fine Proteas bowlers thump Zimbabwe 20 Aug 2014 *match played on 19 Aug 2014 The South Africans overpowered the minnows by 61 runs to clinch the series 2-0, with a game to go in Bulawayo. Once again, it was Zimbabwe who won the toss and chose to bowl. The three quick scalps of Amla, de Kock and de Villiers hindered progress at 60/3. A 69-run partnership between Faf and JP Duminy helped them get back on track. Faf went back for 55 off 72, caressing three boundaries to the ropes. David Millers 45 combined with cameos from Abbott and Parnell helped the Proteas get past 250. A flurry of wickets at the end restricted the visitors to 257 all out with a ball to spare. Vitori, Utseya, Nyumbu and Williams picked up a couple apiece. Zimbabwe started off the chase in a disarray. Within 22 overs, they were reduced to 59/5. Sean Williams was the lone warrior, scoring 55, smashing three fours and two sixes. After he departed, some resistance was offered by the tail. Utseya. Madziva, Nyumbu and Vitori scored 15. 25, 18 and 20 respectively. Zimbabwe were bundled out for 196 in 49.1 overs. Parnell and McLaren took three wickets each. Wayne Parnell was adjudged Man of the Match. It was a stellar bowling display by the Proteas. They were just too good for the Zimbabweans. They were thoroughly outplayed. You have to feel for Sean Williams. Zimbabwe were in tatters. I didnt think theyd reach 196. South Africa have now taken the series 2-0 with a game to go. Image Source: cricbuzz, cricbuzz, cricbuzz
