Mija had an ok day again today. It was long and busy! They left at 7 for the KU Med Center and got there at 8. KU Med Center swallow test went well. The speech pathologist asked mom if she would give her the spoonfuls of barium. The first one went down slowly but correctly. Chocolate syrup was added and she did a much better job of swallowing. The therapist then added honey to thicken the chocolate barium. Once again, she did a good job of swallowing. Everything went down the correct tube! While waiting for the van to come pick us up, the nurse from Meadowbrook called and said that the doctor wanted her to go to the KU emergency room and have her eye looked at by an ER ophthalmologist (spelling?). She determined that Mija has an ulcer on her eye. She decided that the best treatment to help the eye from drying out was to stitch the eye together in the center. She will see the doctor again on Thursday to see if there is any improvement. Mija and mom did not get back to Meadowbrook until 6:00. Mom helped put Mija to bed earlier than usual. She had a very long day! Thanks for all of the continued prayers and good vibes/karma and please keep them coming!
