Mike Fowler update 11/172014 Day 39 Mike is closing in on the end but really must be careful to stay focused. I know off a couple guys who had mishaps at the end of the journey and couldnt continue. In his last few temples Mike has encountered many pilgrims paths that were wrecked to a point that it was barely useable. Disregarding the conditions of the pilgrims path and still working his way through them, he twice almost took dangerous falls only to find his balance with his stick (tsue). The body is is in pain, the mind is tired, but his spirit is being enlightened. Mike trudges on as he makes it to temple 75. He planned to spend the night there but decided to move on after a rejuvenating visit by the legendary Megumi Fuji and Shinji Sasaki. However, it was already dark and 6 kilometers into his walk he realized he had dropped his pouch he held all the money he had in. Not only all his money for offerings to the temples but even all the offerings he got from people assisting him on his journey. Mike had to backtrack 6 kilometers to go back to look for his money pouch searching desperately only to find himself back at temple 75 with no pouch. Mikes spirits were down as he was bummed of such unfortunate luck just as he was approaching the end of his journey. Then suddenly he noticed something on the ground right in the middle of the path too the entrance of a temple. As he approached it he was amazed to see that it in fact was his money pouch. I told Mike that something has brought him back to this temple and he agreed to come back in the morning and say a prayer and give an offering of thanks before moving on. Mike has now exited the enlightening stage and is now in the stage of Nirvana.
