Mike N. The American Gastronaut We went to Fish Tale Grill last night with some trepidation. I wasnt really comfortable about reviewing a restaurant that belongs to the family of a friend of mine. I need not have worried. From the moment we stepped into the very modern/chic dining room things went from impressed to blown away. Service was spot and the food was something to write home about. Which I guess is exactly what I am doing right now. There were four of us for dinner. so I had a chance to sample a number of dishes. I started with middle neck clams on the half shell these little mollusks were fresh and briny. Next we tried two of the chowders. The white seafood chowder was rich and creamy with tender bits of clams in every bite we all agreed that it was one of the best we had ever eaten. The Manhattan Chowder was a bit of a surprise not the tomatoey slightly spicy soup we were used to but a mild clam broth full of vegetables and succulent clams it was quite tasty. Next lobster ravioli little pasta pillows of lobster in a lobster, sherry and asparagus sauce with plenty of lobster meat, delicious. Onward, Bourbon salmon a nice size piece of Atlantic salmon glazed with the house bourbon sauce on a bed of orzo and asparagus cooked to perfection. Next the fried seafood basket shrimp, grouper, oysters, onion rings and coleslaw. this was fried seafood perfection. Last but not least gulf oysters on the half shell. These slurpy little devils dance a crossed my taste buds as if I was Lewis Carrols walrus. We will be back! Dinner for two will go for about $40.00 to $60.00. Beer and wine only No corkage at this time and no reservations. Hours are Mon. thru Sat. lunch 11:00 AM-4:00PM dinner 4:00PM-9:00PM. Located 1229 SE 47th Terrace Cape Coral FL. 239-257-3167
