Militaire Anglaise Mrs Coates 182 Hyndland Road, Glasgow, England, Angleterre. 1st Royal Fusiliers 17th Inf Bgde 6th Division III Corps 25th April1915 My dear Lottie, Sorry I’ve been so long in replying to your letters - I did write to Jack a few days ago 2 letters too! and expect to hear from him about the boxing gloves any day now. We go back in the trenches on Monday. I rather hoped to get the boxing going this time out but any way no doubt they’ll turn up in time to start when we “rest” again. The parcel was jolly good - unfortunately Mr B (Bunker?) came to see me and discovered the chocolates !!! They were very good indeed. So he said! He’s been laid up with the flue the last few days but will go back into trenches with us I expect. I really thought Jack had turned around a new leaf when I got a 4 page letter from him but it’s been too good to last. I’ve been getting a collection of tools here which would gladden the heart of an engineer! All sorts of comic Yankee things with ratchets and screws and whatnot. I think it’s up to you to send me the result of the new hat and the new camera in continuation (single ones) please. We’ve had splendid weather lately and I’ve not been trying to stop any more souvenirs allemande so things aren’t half so bad as they might be. I hear Mother has gone to see the Burkett people but have no more news except that C (Cecil) keeps well and the Gov is pretty busy. Love to you both - write me again soon Yours always Billie
