‘Militants had sneaked a day before the attack’ Srinagar - The six Fidayeen attackers who stormed an army base in Uri sector of Baramulla district on Friday had sneaked into this side a day before the attack, a senior army official said. Seventeen people including eight army soldiers and three policemen were killed in an attack at Mohra army base on Baramulla-Uri Highway in the wee hours of Friday. “They were well equipped and had latest devices which might have halted functioning of electronic surveillance amid fog during infiltration and that is why they couldn’t be traced,” the official said, adding that the group had probably sneaked near Rustum and Mike post in Uri sector.” “We have received the input that they were eight in number and six among them carried the attack. The remaining two militants either returned back or hid themselves in the forest area”, he said. Meanwhile, army launched the massive search operation in Mohra forests and in the area close to Line of Control,” he said. (GNS)
