Military Service Member: There are only 30 days until the November 4 general election. Register, request and return your ballot now to make sure that you have the opportunity to vote absentee. 1) If you have not yet requested your absentee ballot for the 2014 general election and would like to vote, do so immediately. Go to FVAP.gov, select your State from the drop-down and register to vote, request an absentee ballot or update your voter information to start the process of completing a Federal Postcard Application. 2) If you have already requested, but have not received your State ballot, use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) as your back-up ballot. The online assistant at FVAP.gov will pre-populate your FWAB with candidate lists depending on your Congressional District. To begin, just select your State from the drop-down at FVAP.gov and then select get my ballot If you receive your State ballot after submitting the FWAB, vote and return the State ballot, as well. (But don’t worry; your vote will only be counted once.) Mail delivery times vary and it may take longer than expected for your ballot to get from your location to your State. To view estimated delivery times, go to fvap.gov/uploads/FVAP/VAO/2014_mailing_dates.pdf. The Military Postal Service Agency provides free expedited ballot delivery and ballot tracking for Service members and their family members. They will place the Label 11- DOD on your ballot envelope and you can then go to usps to track the status of your ballot en route to your local election office. Help spread the word - pass this information on to spouses, voting-age dependents, other military voters and overseas voters. ** Remember, the FPCA is only used for absentee voting. If you live within your voting jurisdiction, register to vote using your State form. If you would like more information on the Federal Voting Assistance Program or need help with the absentee voting process, please contact FVAP at 1-800-438-8683, DSN 425-1584, or [email protected]. Your unit or installation voting assistance officers can also help. More info is available at FVAP.gov, on Facebook at facebook/DoDFVAP and on Twitter @FVAP.
