Millwall may bid for out-of-favour Newcastle United - TopicsExpress

Millwall may bid for out-of-favour Newcastle United Frenchman Mehdi Abeid is understood to be interesting Championship outfit Millwall. The Frenchman was thought to be set for a switch to SPL outfit St Johnstone this month. But despite spending a successful stint north of the border last season and ex-Toon keeper Tommy Wright now manager at St Johnstone, Abeid was back at Newcastle’s training HQ in Benton yesterday for a fitness test. Abeid’s first option would be to stay at United and possibly be loaned out. He has three years left on his current deal and was hoping to push for the first-team squad. However, like a clutch of United’s squad he has been told he is surplus to requirements. And, with Millwall’s new boss being ex-St Johnstone chief Steve Lomas, the former Northern Ireland and Manchester City star is keen to take him on again. The Londoners would need to take over his contract but United would not demand a big fee for the former Lens youngster. Should Abeid demand showdown talks with any of Newcastle’s hierarchy, the Algerian Under-23 international will have to wait until tomorrow to speak to Alan Pardew when he returns to the training ground after vacation. It is also believed that director of football Joe Kinnear is currently taking a pre-arranged break later this week. source - chronicle live Well that is it from me for now, hope you all have a wonderful day. Sun is shining, so gonna make the most of it. \COLE//
