Minhaj-ul-Hassan. Passed ISSB in 2005 and got selected to serve as a fighting falcon for his nation’s service. The year 2007 arrived. Hard days of recruitment had passed and the shining future seemed so near. 121 GD(P) got commissioned and Minhaj had his hopes even higher than ever for he had excelled in Para trooping with flying colors while many of his course hadn’t. Finally the year 2008 was here. ‘Do dreams really come true?’ Minhaj asked himself, glancing at the two stars on his shoulder and his heart silently uttered, ‘Unbelievably Yes!’ 121 passed out and the relish of being a part of backbone of the nation felt heavenly wonderful. Minhaj took an oath, the oath of his life’s sole purpose that he’ll never compromise on his nation’s defence. ****************************************** The year 2009, the year I was waiting for to begin and end in a blink of eye and then I’ll fly as a defender, Minhaj tells himself. Things move on smoothly and Minhaj gets bestowed with every passing day. Minhaj lives each moment of his life to its full, cheering everybody up with his harmless mischievous nature. When he mimics, everyone rolls out laughing. When he paints, every mind gets frozen with astonishment. When he competes, he surpasses. He once said to his comrade, ‘It is going to be either Mirages or nothing’. He had a multi talented personality. ‘This must be someone chosen’, comes the heart’s voice of the observer. Finally it’s December 2009 and the time has come. He has made it. Minhaj is officially going to start his flying on mirages. The gratitude got no limits. Now that he is going to fly on Mirages, the machine of his dreams, he finds no way to pay heed and thank Lord Almighty for being so gracious. It is 4th December 2009. Along with his Father and brother, Minhaj leaves for offering the Jummah Prayer. His mother’s heart prays, ‘May thee succeed son’. She prepares the lunch for her family for when the three members shall return, they all will enjoy the meal, the few more moments with their son who is finally a defender of his nation and its people now. A fighter pilot. Sigh!. Nobody was aware on 4th Dec 09, the evil was going to play a worse game. Lt/Col Fakhr-ul-Hassan and his son Saad-ul-Hassan enter the parade lane mosque. Minhaj is coming behind them….He hears a violent clash. Hold on, firing in the mosque?. Minhaj runs into the mosque. He sees three outraged men firing with one while holding grenades in other hand. Raid on a mosque? An alarming current travels through whole of his body. This is not going to be it, I cant let this happen, he thinks and hastily rushes toward the outraged man firing consistently at the innocent children and their folks. The clashes of the bullets fired, the cries of the little kids who came to offer prayers pleaded not to punish them for nothing so brutally and the hustle of victims hoping and trying to get their lives back, the scene was absolutely tragic. The place which inculcated peace in hearts was picturising a battle field while battle being fought unjust. Th e evil targeting the young generations… diminishing the blooming nascent flowers planning not to let the garden flourish ever again. Minhaj tried to snatch the gun when another terrorist’s eyes caught him in sight and shot him in the stomach. Minhaj hasn’t yet regained consciousness and before he makes to, the shameless hounds are growing more violent and they assaulted the House of Allah with grenades. ****************************************** Army has regained the control over parade lane mosque and security personnel are on high alert. Parade lane mosque is now safe n sound with broken grills, glass pieces scattered everywhere, blood drops haunting and the bullet strikes on the walls. Minhaj still succeeded to survive in an epic war where the only dominant was ‘EVIL’. Along with others he was taken to the hospital. He bled immensely and his condition was growing worse. He still was playing the game of life and death with dignity and valor. He told the doctors everything that happened. His father and brother had already attained martyrdom and he was the ‘man’ left alive in his home. His heart desired to beat, his eyes expected to see few more colors of life and he wanted his wings to get leveled and make a ride on his ‘Machine of Dreams’ however the Almighty had kept even a higher degree of reward for him, an enticement for every Muslim. Four hours of struggle for the worldly life went in vain and Flying Officer Minhaj-ul-Hassan embraced Shahadat. ****************************************** He was born a soldier, he lived like a soldier, he defended like a soldier, he fought like a soldier and he left like a soldier. He couldn’t ride on Mirages…his ‘Minhaj’ was rather destined for Mai’raj. May Allah outpour His utmost blessings on the folks of the martyrs and treat the slayer in His way for HE does justice at its best. Aameen.
