Mini-Mission Project for the Kids: send a card to a child that was recently diagnosed with cancer. This was posted on Facebook by a member of the DS community, so we thought wed share it with you: We have some dear friends who are going through a very though time with their 8 year old daughter, Ellie Grace. Out of the blue, last week she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor that is too large to remove. She will endure 5 weeks of chemo in attempt to shrink the tumor and then remove but it is all very touch and go and Ellie is very sick. I want to send her boxes of hand made cards each week, enough to read through and enjoy over the next few weeks. Seeing that it is summer time and lots of kids are coloring, maybe you and your kiddos could make her a few cards. Her parents, Brian and Kim Hommel became our friends while my husband was playing baseball for the Seattle Mariners. Brian lead our Spring Training bible studies and is the chaplain for the Arizona Diamondbacks. If your kids would like to make some cards, you can drop them off at Hill Country Bible Church: 100 Commons Rd #4, Dripping Springs. There will be a pink box there for collecting cards. The friend that posted this will collect them all and mail them to Ellie Grace.
