Minimum Wage What are the politics that drives the notion that the government can and should enforce a “minimum wage’? I would guess that about eighty percent of the American people LIKE the idea that some poor, hardworking putz can support a family if they have “at least that much” income – even if it is a myth. If you are a “socialist doubter” like me, you may suspect that what they are really after is “total class equality”… and they want it “by governmental decree”. “Class” is the operative word. The entire structure of “social” behavior is a Karl Marx fantasy, so it is no mystery that they think that equality is only a declaration away. I call it “Utopia By Decree”. To enable the “declaration”, we must suborn our “inane and silly” notion that “an individual has rights”. Their overriding belief is that the communal need is a “greater” need. They believe that ONLY a good and wise government can ENFORCE equality. They have no qualms that it will be enforced at the point of an awful lot of guns. Go figure. Let’s do a mind experiment. If government can declare and enforce “a wage”, then why do we do it in all of these silly little “minimum wage” stages? Why doesn’t government just draw up a chart that tells us ALL what we will make? Is incrementing by decree any different than wage control by declaration? I would urge you to study the USSR and the wage chart that WAS decreed by that socialist government. This is not “theory” folks. It is history.
