Minister in the Presidency for Womens Affairs, Susan Shabangu says among other things Apartheid contributed to the shocking brutal abuse experienced by women and children in South Africa today. Shabangu was speaking at the The New Age business briefing in Sandton on Thursday. Shabangu says exhaustive research has to be conducted to find all the sources that lead to abusive men and how that can be prevented in the future. Among others, Shabangu says cultural issues, mind-set issues, and attitude issues need to be addressed in time in order to prevent future men from becoming abusive. This years’ theme for the 16 Days campaign is: “Count me in: Together moving a non-violent South Africa forward.”
