Mircea Nicolae The Bus Stop «This is a visual study of the body postures, facial features, and dress codes of the urban dwellers of the city of Bucharest, within the specific setting of urban transportation, using a large format camera. At the same time, the intention is to record as much as possible the relationships that establish themselves between several layers of observation. The urban and architectural context within which the image is taken is the first layer. This is also the layer of the composition of the image, which is generally static, and is connected to a longer time span. The second layer of observation is the human situation. One could describe this as the pattern of human postures in a given space at a certain time. The third layer of observation is the articulation between the architectural context and the human situation. This is still in the area of a longer time span, as both buildings and crowds tend to last for a while. The last layer could be called the unique moment. It is the very short instant when the composition, the human situation, their articulation, and the present moment, are bound together as a coherent whole. If beyond all of this observation some impression of visual beauty is generated, then the image is as close as possible to the ideal form of the project.
