Miss Indianapolis is just three weeks away! The deadline for this - TopicsExpress

Miss Indianapolis is just three weeks away! The deadline for this years entries is January 1st. Here is some VERY important information for contestants and moms: 1.) ATTIRE: Contestants will need THREE outifits - interview, evening gown, and opening number. INTERVIEW should be classy, age-appropriate business attire. It does NOT have to be a suit, just professional and well put together. OPENING NUMBER is to be a black, short cocktail-style dress. No other colors are allowed as our reigning queens will be dressed in a different color. All should be short and, again, age appropriate. EVENING GOWN is to be a full-length gown. You can wear an asymmetrial gown, but at least some part of the dress must touch the gown. We do allow for mature dresses in our teen division and above. Again, we cant stress this enough - make sure the dress does not overpower the girl wearing it! 2.) TENTATIVE SCHEDULE: As time gets closer and we have an idea of how many contestants we have, we will post a more solid schedule. However, it is confirmed for now that registration will open at 8am. We will hold a brief MANDATORY meeting for all contestants at 9am. Interviews will start promptly at 10am and run through all divisions starting with the Young Miss and go through Classic Ms. as the last group. We will break for lunch and hold opening number rehearsal at 1:30pm. That should last for about 1 1/2 hours; then all contestants are released to prepare and the ball room will be closed. Doors for the final competition will open at 5pm and the pageant will start at 5:30pm. 3.) HAIR & MAKEUP: We have had a couple of vendors request to advertise services for this competition. Understand that Miss Indianapolis does not directly endorse one specific individual or group for these services, however they can be helpful for a stressed-out mom or contestant who is not familiar with these areas of preparation. Just make sure to ask lots of questions and make the decision based on your own criteria. Our competition has been, and always will be, about the girl on the INSIDE. 4.) REFERRAL & FAN FAVORITE: Remember - you get a $25 credit and one raffle ticket for each contestant you refer. If your paperwork doesnt have a line for contestant referral, please tell that person to place your name on the discount line. Your $25 credit will be returned on pageant day at registration. Each referral will also get you one raffle ticket. At the crowning ceremonies we will draw ONE ticket to receive $140 which is like getting your entry for free! There is NO LIMIT to the number of referrals you can make. So be sure to tell all your friends about the competition! The Fan Favorite award is based on door admission. Your friends and family will receive a ticket at the door. They will then place your name on the ticket and return it to the registration/welcome table. The person with the most tickets will be awarded the Fan Favorite! 5.) PEOPLES CHOICE: At the competition, you friends and family will have a chance to put donations in your box. All donations will go to our chosen group/cause. This year our group is American Cancer Society. You can also solicit donations from your friends and family ahead of the competition and just put those checks and cash in your box. Please have them make checks payable to American Cancer Society. Do NOT hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. I am so excited and cant wait to see all of you in just a few weeks! Merry Christmas! Miss Amanda
