Missed Big Ticket Announcement - Wish the Govt recognized that Robots is a big opportunity to build a dominant manufacturing sector India needs to build Industries of the future if it wants to emerge as a dominant, value added manufacturing base. We missed out the the entire manufacturing revolution in the IT, consumer electronics and home appliances due to late or no pro-active measures by the Govt. Today due to lack of a component & research ecosystem its impossible to manufacture globally competitive Phones, Tablets, TVs, Laptops, Refrigerators, Washing Machines, Microwave Ovens in India. China, Korea and Taiwan control 80-95% of the manufacturing in this sector. Industrial and Consumer Robots would emerge as the Industry of this century. Japan, Korea, Israel, China, Taiwan, Vietnam have already announced country wide integrated programs and incentives to promote usage and manufacturing of Robots. They are also taking a lot of initiatives to attract FDI in the Robotics sector. India treats it as regular consumer electronics. Robots for Industrial Automation, Medical industry, Domestic & Service industry, Education and Defense will revolutionize the way the world works currently. I wish the new Govt, (for that matter all Law & Policy makers) realize that a Great India can not be built by tinkering of policies and a few sops here or there.
