Mississippi State (9-1, 5-1 SEC) nearly pulled off a massive comeback after falling behind 19-0, but in the end saw its perfect season and 12-game win streak end while its place in the playoff rankings is sure to take a hit from the top spot. The Bulldogs, who came in ranked No. 1 by the College Football Playoff selection committee, outgained Alabama 428-335 but were hampered by three interceptions thrown by Dak Prescott. Prescott threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for two scores, and he brought MSU back from the big deficit to get within 19-13 early in the fourth quarter. He didnt get help from running back Josh Robinson, who was held to a season-low 37 yards and was tackled in the end zone for a safety that gave Alabama an early 2-0 lead. MSU is still very much a player in both the SEC West and the playoff race, with its season finale at Ole Miss still to come. Except for being undefeated, every other goal is still ahead of us, coach Dan Mullen told the AP (h/t ESPN).
