Misunderstanding* not Japanese* This is actually NOT Japanese but is something that tries to pass as Japanese in todays youth. Since its something that is misunderstood and many misinform about, I think its important to explain here. Its a fashion known as pastel goth. If any of you know of pastel goth, you know its normally Chibi drawings or a fashion movement which normally shows inverted crosses, rude or offensive statements, dark or neon colors, some or a lot of pink thrown in, galactic images and an occasional satanic symbol (mostly used as a fashion statement and not a religious statement). The misinformation here though is that this fashion isnt particularly Japanese and is not even popular in Japan. The reason it has probably been misunderstood as Japanese is because it seems very similar to goth Lolita. Lolita is a Japanese fashion that is usually very doll like with cute colors and frilly dresses. Sometimes Lolita involves contrasting items, such as wearing a dress with lace along with a brightly colored gas mask of face covering. Common symbols of pastel goth such as the satanic symbols, rude statements, or inverted crosses are used little to none in Japanese fashion. First picture is pastel goth. Second picture is a group in Lolita. Third is a picture of some contrasting Lolita. Fourth is goth Lolita. ~ 皇后
