Mitch Hahn’s VFL Player Review 2. Jordan Russell Hahn Says: A really pleasing performance. Played the majority of the game at half back before he went into midfield in the last quarter because we had two injuries early on which meant that we had to reshuffle our structure defensively. He did a really good job with 20 possessions and a goal plus a strong defensive performance in general. Provided good leadership and direction to the younger players. Statistics: 14 kicks, 9 marks, 6 handballs, 20 possessions, 3 clearances, 1 inside 50, 3 rebound 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind, 5 tackles 7. Andrew Krakouer Hahn Says: Looked really sharp through the midfield. Really ran hard and his 17 contested possessions and eight clearances show that he was in and around the contest. He ran out the game well looked a class above. Statistics: 15 kicks, 6 marks, 10 handballs, 25 possessions, 8 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal, 1 behind, 4 tackles 9. Marty Clarke Hahn Says: He played half back and on the wing. Performed his role, had some strong patches and contributed on the day. Copped a big knock to the face at one stage too. Statistics: 11 kicks, 7 marks, 4 handballs, 15 possessions, 1 clearance, 2 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal, 0 behinds, 0 tackles 14. Clinton Young Hahn Says: ‘Youngy’ was really pleasing for his first up performance. We know that he uses the ball really well, kicking at 88.9% efficiency, and he worked hard and played his structure really well. I’d imagine it would be just a matter of time for him before he plays senior football. Statistics: 9 kicks, 6 marks, 4 handballs, 13 possessions, 1 clearance, 2 inside 50s, 5 rebound 50s, 0 goals, 0 behinds, 2 tackles 15. Jarrod Witts Hahn Says: Played his role and battled manfully in the ruck with 24 hitouts. He also laid seven tackles which shows that he worked hard at ground level. He shared the ruck role with Brodie Grundy which was the first time we’ve seen that combination work together. Statistics: 3 kicks, 3 marks, 5 handballs, 8 possessions, 2 clearances, 0 inside 50s, 0 rebound 50s, 1 goal, 0 behinds, 7 tackles, 24 hitouts 23. Lachlan Keeffe Hahn Says: A really pleasing performance coming back from a kidney injury. Lachie showed great leadership and gave experience to the younger backmen. He really played his role and performed solidly. Statistics: 7 kicks, 4 marks, 1 handball, 8 possessions, 0 clearances, 0 inside 50s, 4 rebound 50s, 0 goals, 0 behinds, 3 tackles 33. Jackson Paine Hahn Says: ‘Painey’ had a tough day. He has been working hard on his defensive pressure but he needs to continue to lead and work hard to get to the ball because that’s when he plays his best football. He was playing on Richmond’s Ben Darrou for much of the day. Statistics: 3 kicks, 3 marks, 3 handballs, 6 possessions, 1 clearance, 1 inside 50, 0 rebound 50s, 1 goal, 0 behinds, 3 tackles 35. Brodie Grundy Hahn Says: Really pleasing performance from Brodie. He did well both in the ruck and up forward. He ran really well to get from contest to contest and it was certainly his best game so far. He had 17 possessions and high defensive numbers which shows he’s really working hard. With 12 hitouts, it was a pleasing performance. Statistics: 7 kicks, 4 marks, 10 handballs, 17 possessions, 3 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 0 goals, 1 behind, 4 tackles, 12 hitouts 38. Peter Yagmoor Hahn Says: ‘Yags’ has had a solid three weeks as a defender. He is really playing his role well. The defensive side of his game has certainly improved and he is starting to use the ball really well when he gets it. Statistics: 9 kicks, 0 marks, 3 handballs, 12 possessions, 0 clearances, 0 inside 50s, 5 rebound 50s, 0 goals, 0 behinds, 4 tackles 44. Corey Gault Hahn Says: Corey was OK. When he uses his body and gets himself in defensive positions he rarely gets beaten. He is winning the hard ball (eight contested possessions) and played on the resting rucks in Tom Derickx and Orren Stephenson and it was certainly a real improvement this week. Statistics: 6 kicks, 3 marks, 5 handballs, 11 possessions, 0 clearances, 0 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 0 goals, 0 behinds, 0 tackles 47. Michael Hartley Hahn Says: A real display of resilience from ‘Harts’ having been injured for a fair chunk of the two years that he has been here. He showed aggression at the contest and was really disciplined in his role. A really good starting point for him to build into the next 10 games. Statistics: 3 kicks, 2 marks, 0 handballs, 3 possessions, 0 clearances, 2 rebound 50s, 0 inside 50s, 0 goals, 0 behinds, 3 tackles 48. Caolan Mooney Hahn Says: It was ‘Moons’ best game of the year. He was really running on top of the ground and penetrated the lines with his speed. He kicked 3.1 and laid eight tackles so it was a really good, strong performance. Statistics: 12 kicks, 0 marks, 5 handballs, 17 possessions, 4 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 0 rebound 50s, 3 goals, 1 behind, 8 tackles
