Mitochondrial disease awareness: since the mitochondria produce the energy for organs, systems, and body to function my digestive system has failed making me TPN dependant. (TPN is nutrition through an IV access) when I eat even a small amount my stomach swells to a huge size like Im pregnant. Im a pretty skinny girl not much over 100 pounds but when I eat I can swell several sizes. Since my stomach and bowel are failed food can sit for weeks. Im constantly nauseous and even a bite can make me puke and fill a 5 gallon bucket twice. I get sick even if I havent ate for days from the bile my body makes on its own. I know this is graffic, but so is mitochondrial disease. I will not be sugar coating the hell it puts me and my friends through so you can see how serious it is even though we put on a brave face. Feel free to share this to show what we go through and the life threatening things mito puts us through.
