Miyo kekisepa! Keyiwek ekwa eyati-miyoskamihk. Kekac pakakam ewi-nipinohk. (Good Morning! It is almost spring like now. Kinda going into summer) Soon many people will be on the road traveling to various celebrations across Turtle Island. We are all aware that down south, the celebrations have begun already and most in the north would think rounddances were coming to a close for the season since it is almost summer here. Times and things do change or evolve if one will, as we see the winter seasonal ceremony of the rounddance still happening in various places. Probably because people cant get enough of a good thing. Well the guys and gal from NC are anxious to get on the powwow trail. We will be hosting the annual Ben Calf-Robe school powwow today ( May 10) at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. This is a good little powwow which has outgrown 2 other venues they previously used, and is also a good place to warm up for the many weeks of powwow ahead. We wont have our full crew, but we will do our best. Its all good because we may practice a few new tunes and also give an opportunity for some young guys to show their talent and gift of singing. Who knows, maybe discover a power voice in the making. May 17-18, we will be hosting the annual Creston BC traditional powwow. May 23-25, we will be in Thief River Falls Minnisota. Never been there, but have heard many good things about this celebration. Just listing a few places NC will be over the summer months; Kinder, Louisianna-Ottawa,Ontario,-Ft Dushene, Utah-Lac Simon, Quebec-Post Falls, Idaho-Kashena, Wisconsin-Gramde Ronde, Oregon-Sycuan, California,-Salt River, Arizona. We will list a complete list on this page in the next few weeks just to let you know if we are near your area, because we would like to see you. Something we are really excited about is the opening of the ballet on the TRC in the fall. We have been fortunate enough to be chosen from the many great drum groups on this land to collaborate music with the Royal Winnipeg Orchestra for this ballet. We are try honored and humbled to be able to play a small role in this historic event. We will also fill you in more about that as the opening day nears. Well our friends, from our mosom mistikwaskihk to your homefires and the travels that you will take to attend these celebrations, may your homes and loved ones be blessed, your roads brightened so that your travels may be safe. If your at a celebration, may you have a wonderful weekend.....and hey, Dont sweat the small stuff! Also, if your at any celebration that we may be at, drop by the drum to pick up any of our latest CDs or maybe a t-shirt, or at least to chat, or even just to say, Tansi. Great love from our circle to each and everyone of you. God its so good to be born First Nation! Oh! Mighty important, if not for this person, you would not be here. So be sure to give Mom a call or at least a hug, and tell her how much you love her. Happy Mothers Day to all moms! Today...... ... .......................... Sing It Like You Own It!
