Moamba Toll Gate 1pm A gentleman by the name of Chris just called me from his SA cel phone +27829204250. Himself and his family are on their way to Xai Xai on holiday. Transit and Grey Police pulled him over. After the normal drill of hand over your TIP car papers - Drivers Licence and every passport - he was told because of the baggage on the backseat of his Pajero he will be fined MT4000-00. The Officer that attended to him was very aggressive and intimidating. When Chris called me the Officer was busy pulling another South African Family over - I could not speak to the Officer. I told Chris - do not pay anything - I have to speak to the Officer - Chris agreed and said he will call me as soon as the Officer is available. Unfortunately when Chris called me after 10 minutes - he informed me that he paid the Officer MT3000-00 because the Officer said he will confiscate his documents if he does not pay a SPOT FINE immediately. No receipt was given. I am very angry that Chris paid this BRIBE when he had no reason to pay it. I was available to talk to the Officer and resolve this matter telephonically. This just makes matters worst because the Corruption gets fuelled in that manner.
